1. Introduction

Katie Jones Emotional Wellbeing Services is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for all clients, particularly children and young people aged 3 and above, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This policy outlines our commitment to safeguarding and the procedures we follow to protect our clients from harm.

2. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all clients.

  • Provide clear guidelines for the practitioner on safeguarding responsibilities.

  • Establish procedures for reporting and responding to safeguarding concerns.

3. Scope

This policy applies to all services provided by Katie Jones Emotional Wellbeing Services, including:

  • In-school sessions.

  • Care home visits.

  • Private educational settings.

  • Private sessions in clients’ homes.

  • Wellbeing hub sessions conducted in the home garden.

4. Commitment to Safeguarding

We are committed to:

  • Providing a safe environment for all clients.

  • Ensuring that the practitioner is trained in safeguarding procedures.

  • Promoting the well-being and rights of all clients.

5. Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

As the sole practitioner, Katie Jones serves as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and is responsible for:

  • Overseeing safeguarding practices within the service.

  • Providing support and guidance on child protection issues.

  • Attending relevant child protection training.

6. Confidentiality

We respect the confidentiality of our clients. Information will not be disclosed without consent,

except when:

  • There is a risk of harm to the client or others.

  • Disclosure is required by law.

7. Reporting Concerns

Any concerns about a client’s safety or well-being should be reported immediately to the DSL:

8. Procedures for Responding to Concerns

Upon receiving a concern:

  • The DSL will assess the situation and determine the appropriate action.

  • If necessary, the concern will be reported to the relevant authorities.

  • The client and their family will be informed, unless doing so would place the client at further

  • risk.

9. Training and Awareness

Katie Jones will receive regular safeguarding training to ensure awareness of:

  • Signs of abuse and neglect.

  • Reporting procedures.

  • Responsibilities in safeguarding.

10. Safe Practice Guidelines

To ensure safe practice:

  • Sessions will be conducted in appropriate settings, ensuring privacy and safety.

  • Risk assessments will be carried out for all activities.

  • A chaperone will be present during sessions with clients under 16.

11. Compliance with Other Settings' Safeguarding Procedures

When working within other settings, such as schools or care homes, Katie Jones will adhere to the safeguarding policies and procedures of those settings, in addition to this policy.

12. Insurance and Registration

Katie Jones holds appropriate insurance coverage and is registered with Ofsted, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

13. Qualifications

Katie Jones holds qualifications relevant to the services provided. Details of these qualifications can be requested at any time.

14. Professional Development

Katie Jones engages in monthly practitioner meetings as part of continuous professional development (CPD). Discussions during these meetings may include general topics related to practice; however, no personal details or identifying information about clients will be disclosed.

15. Review

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and to incorporate any changes in legislation or best practice.
